Jerzy Kukuczka was a Polish climber, alpinist and mountaineer. He captured The Crown of the Himalayas and the Karakorum as the second person on Earth- all the 14 main peaks with a height of more than 8000 metres (the first one was Reinhold Messner, it took him 16 years and 4 months to make it, Kukuczka made it in less than 8 years). Kukuczka is recognized as one of the greatest mountaineers of the twentieth century.
