Jerzy Kulej- double Olympics Champion, double European Champion, legend of Polish boxing. He won the Olimpic gold in Tokyo (1964) and Mexico (1968). He won European Championships in Moscow and East Berlin. He was the runner-up of Europe once. He was also Polish Champion 8 times. He fought 348 times, he won 317 times, he had 6 draws and 25 failures. Unexpectedly, he ended his career in 1971, at the height of his fame. He was never knocked out. After finishing his career, as Warsaw AWF graduate, he became coach and manager. 20 years later, on 12 October 1991, he organized the first proffessinal boxing gala in Poland, in Torwar Hall with the fight of Przemysław Saleta.
